Further to my post of Jan. 8, I received the following from Ken Iida detailing the memorial service held for Inoue-san. I thought you might like to see it.
Hello Bob-san, Rich-san and Mike(Waterhouse)-san;
How are doing , I hope you are “Genki”. I would like to inform you of the following.
Inoue-san’s memorial Service was held on Feb. 21th ,2016 at Musashikosugi (near Inoue-san’s home). Total attendees were 46 people including Masunaga-san, Tanaka-san, Mogi-san, Ashida-san,...
Shoji Akutsu-san, Duke-san, Miyasaka-san, Patty-san-------. The master of ceremony was Scotty-san.
Since I was asked by Scotty-san to reminisce about Inoue-san,
I made a brief speech using four photos which Inoue-san has been keeping for long time at his home as you can see in the attachment file of this mail.
The attachment
The 1st slide: Just a title meaning “ Overseas activity”
2nd : In mid 1980s when FMI took over component business from their Chicago operation.
3rd : In the end of 1970s in Frankfurt Germany, Inoue-san and Tom Straight visited there to found a subsidiary, FMG, to take over the European business from the Distributor.
4th : In 1980s, Inoue-san, Jack Foster, Bill Conway and Mike Waterhouse visited Chippewa Falls. I explained that the visit was very successful and since then Cray Research had been our FMI’s No.1 ( Ichiban) customer for long time. And just recently Mike-san, Dan Peloquin(Spell ?) and Daryl MaCNab(Spell?) participated in Inoue-School reunion (IOB) at Nagano, Japan from long way Minneapolis , US.
5th : In 1982, A Group shot of the Sales Meeting at Lake Tahoe.
I explained it was just wonderful meeting because the business was excellent and all employees’ heart got together one, so we confirmed “ United we stand divided we fall”. But our 7 Japanese visitors (Captain Mr. Inoue and other 6) run across a gun bob the robber at a restaurant there. It was very scarred.
6th : The e-mails from you three . Thank you very much for Bob-san, Rich-san and Mike-san. I picked up the points from the mails and explained them and handed over it to Inoue-san’s wife. She and her daughter appreciated it very much.
These are the points I wanted to report to you. It was a nice memorial service party and I felt everybody there reassured that Inoue-san was a great man, a true gentleman, a friendly person and was respected by many people.
Ok everybody we are getting old so take care and be “Genki”.
