What this city siege really says about city living- those city dwellers are not able to sustain themselves. There is little to no economic production within the immediate city to provide food to the residence.
Food supplies come from outside the town. This is what siege demonstrates- dependency upon others and the inability for self reliance within an entire community.
War especially siege demonstrates the weakness of dependency upon outside sources for survival. And yes in a war torn country it's hard to get out in the fields to plant or harvest crops.
Think not that I am cold hearted to the current plight of these starving people but how to avoid such city planning flaws in the future
