At least they are thinking about sustainability... We have had the same IKEA kitchen carcasses, doors (solid wood) and lights for over 20 years. We re-paint them from time to time... added a new worksurface on top and got some small kitchen cupboard paint door fronts made to match to fill in spaces. Nothing thrown out (apart from a rubbish extractor fan!).
