Hive mind, I need sound system advice...

I have a BOSE 321 sound system, and it wont play sound from my new samsung tv wont turn on ue48 TV. It plays radio and CD's just fine. I am trying to connect with analog cables, I have tried using direct from TV jack to TV jack in the BOSE, I tried using the AUX jack and I tried going through the cable box. Nothing.
Can it be as simple as the TV requiring an optical cable? Or is there something with the analog connection I am missing.
